π The History of The Ivy League
The term "Ivy League" was officially coined in 1954 when the NCAA Division I athletic conference was formed, but the rivalry dates back much further. These eight institutions are among the oldest in the United States, with seven founded during the colonial period.
Today, the rivalry extends to admissions rates, endowment sizes, and Nobel laureates produced. Each school has its distinct identity but they remain united by a shared history of excellence and fierce competition.
